"We are heartened by the thoughtful reply from the Deputy Mayor for Transport regarding my proposal to introduce the Mayor of London to our friends at Health Professionals for Safer Screens. This was the central purpose of my letter: to spark a dialogue between the leadership of London and those who are leading the efforts to address the profound neurodevelopmental effects of smartphone use on children.
Transport for London’s unique role in public messaging is pivotal and should stand at the forefront of the capital's commitment to lead on this issue. We are thrilled by what appears to be an openness to explore granting Health Professionals for Safer Screens a consultative role in shaping the way forward.
To those who signed the letter, I extend my deepest gratitude. Great things have small beginnings. Thank you for illuminating the path to start a conversation. We look forward to hearing from the Mayor’s officers who work on child health, as referenced in their letter.
And let us always remember: It’s okay to be off-grid if you’re a kid”
